Dunleavy Leads Florida Tech to First NCAA Tournament Win

Caroline Dunleavy - Photo credit: James Ragan Photography The Florida Tech Panthers women’s lacrosse team jumped on the 11 th ranked East Stroudsburg Warriors early Friday and weathered a late charge, to win their first ever NCAA tournament game, 17-10. The win sets up a third meeting with #1 ranked Florida Southern on Saturday. The sixth-ranked Panthers, who came in with a record of 13-3, were led by Caroline Dunleavy , who scored seven goals and added four assists. Sam Schiano and Allie Modica each had a hat trick for the Panthers. The game started pretty even, with the teams trading the first four goals. Allie Modica and Caroline Dunleavy scored for Florida Tech, while Alicia Stratten scored both goals for the Warriors. She would go on to score all four first half goals for East Stroudsburg, but the Panthers poured it on offensively, in between her tallies. Moccasins Overpower Panthers in SSC Title Game

Sam Schiano - Photo credit: James Ragan Photography The Florida Tech Women’s lacrosse team has had a flare for the dramatic this season, but on Sunday, they just couldn’t find their way toward a comeback in the Sunshine State Conference title game, losing to defending SSC and NCAA champion Florida Southern, 20-12. It was the first trip to the championship game for the Panthers, who are in their third year as a program under Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year Corinne Desrosiers. She won the award for the second consecutive year, earlier this week. They have grown by leaps and bounds just from last season to this one, but on Sunday, the Moccasins took control early and the Panthers could not any kind of sustained run, to swing the momentum. Florida Southern (19-2) took the lead 58 seconds into the game on a goal by Kendall Kerge. Panthers Make History in Big Win Over Saint Leo

Allie Modica - Photo credit: James Ragan Photography Sara Grenier and Allie Modica tallied six goals each Tuesday night, as the Panthers trampled the Saint Leo Lions 22-7 in a Sunshine State Conference women’s lacrosse matchup. The Panthers surpassed the 200-goal mark for the second time in school history. For Grenier, the current Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the week, it was her second consecutive six-goal game. Grenier wasted no time picking up right where she left off against Regis on Friday , scoring the first goal of the night 2:17 into the game, against Lions starting goaltender Erin Davis. Modica scored 55 seconds later, setting the tone for the night, giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Saint Leo cut the lead to 2-1, before Grenier scored with 24:47 left. It was the eighth consecutive victory for the Panthers, who have been playing lights out as of late. Aleah Fjelstad scored four goals and two assists to lead the home team. Sara Grenier , Mary Gormley and Allie Modica all posted hat tricks for the Panthers, while Caroline Dunleavy had a goal and an assist hat trick. It was a long night for Concordia-St. Paul goalie Katie Lottsfeldt, who saw the Panthers fire 35 shots, 31 of those on goal. She made 11 saves. Her counterpart Stephanie Stuart continued her stellar play in the Panthers net, making four saves. Chloe Zador played the second half in place of Stuart and she allowed two goals. Allie Modica led the Panthers onslaught with six goals and two assists.  Sara Grenier had four goals and an assist, while Caroline Dunleavy ended the night with a hat trick. Defensive Player of The Week Sam Schiano chipped in with two. Schiano scored the first goal of the night, and it looked like it was going to be a back-and-forth affair, as the teams traded the first four goals of the game. With 20:38 left in the first half, Grenier gave the Panthers a 3-2 lead. At the time, it didn’t seem any more significant than any other goal, but to say it sparked the Panthers offense would be an understatement. Sara Grenier - Photo credit: James Ragan Photography The Florida Tech Women’s lacrosse team won their third straight game on Wednesday, dominating the visiting Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals 22-0 at Florida Tech Panther Stadium. Sara Grenier had a hat trick in the first 10 minutes of the contest and she finished with four goals. Allie Modica (2 G, 2 A) and Sam Schiano (3 G, 1 A) had four point nights as well. Most of the game was played with a running clock, but it didn’t run fast enough for Cardinals goalie Maire Austin, who gave up 10 goals before being pulled 17:09 into the contest. She made just two saves. Renee Cline played the remaining 42:51, giving up 12 goals and making three saves. Florida Tech took 32 shots during the course of the night. Florida Tech they improved their early season record to 2-1. It was the season opener for Tiffin. Stephanie Stuart made her third straight start in goal for the Panthers and she made eight saves. Tiffin goalie Kat Schneeberger was blitzed by a Panthers shooting spree, totaling 31 shots. She made nine saves. Sara Grenier , Caroline Dunleavy , and Sam Schiano scored four each for the Panthers, with Allie Modica tallying twice. The Dragons were led by Elle MacMillan, who found the back of the net five times. It was a dominating performance by the Panthers, who forced 17 of the 26 Tiffin turnovers and had a 26-18 advantage in ground balls. Lindenwood Overpowers Florida Tech in Second Half

The Florida Tech women’s lacrosse Team watched an 11-6 second half lead go up in smoke Friday night, losing to the Lindenwood Lions by the score of 15-12 in the season opener for both teams. The Panthers were led by Allie Modica who had three goals and two assists. Caroline Dunleavy had two goals and one assist and Lauren Tybor had two goals in her Panthers debut. This was a game that the Panthers had within reach, but Maria Johnson took over in the second half, winning an overwhelming majority of the draws and the Lions turned them into goals, scoring seven times in just over five minutes in the second half. Florida Tech (0-1) got off to a good start, scoring four goals in just over four minutes. Aleah Fjelstad , who was making her Panthers debut scored twice in that run, bookended by goals from Leah Dunn and Modica.
