Alexus Smith capped off a 3-for-5 day with an RBI single, driving in Rachel Kraak , who started the inning at second base, as per the international tiebreaker rules. The eighth inning would have never happened if not for Hailey Leonard , who came up in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and hit a game-tying home run against Caldwell starter Sydney Ponto, tying the game, 4-4. The Cougars (4-7) broke through in the top of the fourth, against Panthers ace Rachel Pence . Marisa Monasseri and Carly Testa hit back-to-back singles. Panthers Win Big Over Notre Dame De Namur

Nick Wynne - Photo credit: James Ragan Photography The Florida Tech men’s lacrosse team scored 14 first half goals on Monday, using that as a springboard for a 22-6 win over the visiting Notre Dame De Namur Argonauts. Nick Wynne was a man possessed in this one, scoring four goals and picking up four assists. Logan Sweeney scored four goals and assisted on two more. He had a hat trick with 5:11 left in the first quarter. Cody Martin had a six-point day, with a hat trick and three assists. Carson Clough scored two goals before they hit the seven-minute mark of the first quarter. The Panthers (4-4) scored early and often in this one, with 32 of their 55 shots being on net. The Argonauts fall to 3-7 overall and have now lost two in a row. Florida Tech scored the first seven goals of the period, with the only Argos goal coming with 1:10 remaining, off the stick of Justin Eggimann. Her six-point night against Indiana University of Pennsylvania led the Panthers to a 16-12 victory. Florida Tech came into the game ranked 17 th in the country, while the Crimson Hawks came in ranked 14 th . It was the first game of the season for the visitors, while the Panthers reeled off their seventh consecutive victory. The Panthers (7-1) has cruised to victory in their last handful of games, but they got all they could handle Saturday, before pulling away late. The first 10 goals of the game, were scored in 15:09 and there was no leader. Aleah Fjelstad , Modica (twice) Sara Grenier and Sam Schiano all tallied for Florida Tech in that span. Florida Tech Lacrosse Upsets Fifth-Ranked Seton Hill

Nick Wynne - Photo credit: James Ragan Photography The Florida Tech men’s lacrosse team made history on Saturday, beating the fifth-ranked team in the country, Seton Hill, 5-3 in Charlotte, NC. It marks the first time Florida Tech has beaten a team ranked in the top five, in the six-year history of the program. Nick Wynne netted a hat-trick and Logan Sweeney had a goal and two assists for the Panthers. Brett Pohlmeyer also tallied in the win. Goaltender Daniel Flock made those points stand up, making 19 saves. Florida Tech (3-4) had three man-up goals in the contest and Lance Pavlina took control at the faceoff X, winning six of the 10 draws he was involved in. Reid Neal - Photo credit: James Ragan Photography The Florida Southern Moccasins put Florida Tech behind the eight ball in Sunshine State Conference play, sweeping the three-game weekend series, highlighted by a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field. Following their 3-0 win on Friday in the series opener , the Mocs took game one on Saturday, 3-2 and won a high-scoring game two, 12-8. Tyler Deel got the start for Florida Tech in game one and pitched well for six innings, despite giving up a leadoff home run to Cody Burgess to start the proceedings. That run held until the bottom of the fourth, when Dan Szpik and Ryan Sinzenich started the frame with back-to-back singles against Florida Southern starter Jake Walsh, Nick Capra reached on fielder’s choice, loading the bases.
