Florida Tech Lacrosse Upsets Fifth-Ranked Seton Hill

The Florida Tech men’s lacrosse team made history on Saturday, beating the fifth-ranked team in the country, Seton Hill, 5-3 in Charlotte, NC. It marks the first time Florida Tech has beaten a team ranked in the top five, in the six-year history of the program.

Nick Wynne netted a hat-trick and Logan Sweeney had a goal and two assists for the Panthers. Brett Pohlmeyer also tallied in the win.

Goaltender Daniel Flock made those points stand up, making 19 saves. Florida Tech (3-4) had three man-up goals in the contest and Lance Pavlina took control at the faceoff X, winning six of the 10 draws he was involved in.

This was a close contest throughout, with Florida Tech jumping out to a 2-0 lead. Seton Hill cut it to one, before the Panthers struck again, securing a 3-1 halftime lead. With an early second half goal, Florida Tech expanded their lead to 4-1, before the Griffins came back with two goals, cutting the lead to 4-3.

The final tally for the Panthers came with 30 seconds to go in the contest, sending the Panthers to their second consecutive win.

Florida Tech returns home on Monday, to host Notre Dame de Namur in a non-conference game. 
Opening faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
