Despite being overtaken in many of the key categories, the Florida Tech Men’s lacrosse team won their fourth consecutive game Saturday, beating host Lynn 11-10 in the Sunshine State Conference opener for both teams.

Florida Tech (5-4, 1-0 SSC) was outshot 49-37, they lost the faceoff battle 37-29 and lost eight of 15 faceoffs. Despite all that, the Panthers won where it mattered… on the scoreboard.

Addison Abramson scored the decisive goal with his Panthers a man down. It was only the second goal of the season for him, but it may be awhile before he scores a bigger one.

Reid Chaconas led the Panthers with two goals and two assists and Nick Wynne added two goals. An impressive performance by Daniel Flock in goal, made those points count. Flock allowed 10 goals, but made 16 saves, nine of those in the third quarter.

At the other end, Collin McClelland made 10 saves for the Fighting Knights, while giving up 10 goals. Offensively, Lynn was led by Austin Jerhoff, who had a six-point day with a hat trick in both goals and assists.

It took just 23 seconds for Caleb Cerf to find the back of the net for Lynn, but Logan Sweeney tied things up less than four minutes later. With 8:55 left in the first, Wynne gave the Panthers their first lead of the day, 2-1. It was the 23rd tally of the season for Wynne.

Chaconas made it 3-1 a couple minutes later, but Johnny Gavin made it 3-2, with 25 seconds to go in the quarter.

Brett Pohlmeyer got the first goal of the second quarter 3:45 in, extending the Panthers lead to 4-2. The teams traded goals for much of the quarter, until Jerhoff tallied three straight times, including two goals 14 seconds apart. His final one came with one second left in the half and gave Lynn a 6-5 lead at the horn.

Mikey Urso beat Flock 59 seconds into the third quarter. Chaconas and Cody Martin answered for Florida Tech, tying the game at seven. Travis Quillan and Carson Clough matched punch for punch and the game was tied at eight, with 5:00 to go in the third. That score remained as the horn sounded, leaving just 15 minutes to decide a winner.

Austen Zugelter made it a 9-8 game in favor of the Panthers, with 13:24 left, but Conor Vaughan beat Flock one minute later, knotting things up again. Urso scored again a couple minutes later, tilting the advantage to the home team

Wynne came up with his second of the day with 9:50 to go, tying things at 10. The game winner from Abramson came with 2:15 left and Clough in the middle of serving an unnecessary roughness penalty.

The Panthers will next take the field on Saturday, hosting rival Florida Southern in a conference matchup at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be played at Florida Tech Panther Stadium.
