The Florida Tech Panthers will open the 2017 schedule at home, against the Virginia University of Lynchburg on September 2. That will be the first of five home games at Florida Tech Panther stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

It also kicks off the fifth season of football at Florida Tech, with the Panthers coming off their first playoff appearance in 2016. The team finished 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the Gulf South Conference.

The Panthers will have quite a mountain to climb in week two, when they visit FCS opponent McNeese State, in Louisiana. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m.

The team returns home on September 16, to take on the Shorter Hawks in their GSC opener. The Panthers took down Shorter 40-0 last season in Rome, Georgia on what was a record-setting night. It was the site of the first shutout in school history and marked the first time the Panthers got off to a 2-0 start in the conference.

The conference schedule continues September 23, when the Panthers take on Mississippi College. This is a rematch of the Florida Tech home opener last season, when the Panthers took down the Choctaws 41-0. This years’ game will be played in Clinton, Mississippi.

On September 30, Florida Tech will host the second annual Coastal Classic against second-year program, West Florida. The Argonauts shocked Florida Tech last season, with a 42-39 victory in Pensacola. It was the Panthers first loss of the 2016 season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Panther Stadium.

Things ramp up from there, as the Panthers travel to Florence Alabama, to take on defending GSC champ, North Alabama, on October 7. These two teams did not play last season, as Hurricane Matthew rolled through Central Florida, forcing the game to be canceled.

On October 14, Florida Tech will be looking for revenge on the team that ended their 2016 season, when they travel to North Greenville.

The Panthers return home October 21 to take on West Alabama. The 2016 meeting went the way of Tigers, 45-35. Florida Tech lost four fumbles in that contest. This game will be an afternoon tilt, kicking off at 2:00 p.m.

The 2017 Homecoming game will be a GSC showdown with West Georgia on November 4, at 1:00 p.m. Florida Tech scored 24 unanswered points in last year’s game, beating the Wolves 45-21.

The 2017 regular season finale will take the Panthers to Cleveland, Mississippi for a showdown with Delta State. The Panthers won last years’ meeting 42-16, allowing them to clinch the first playoff appearance in school history.

The Panthers made a lot of history in 2016 and will have a great chance to do it again this season. You can access all the 2016 game articles at Sportslowdown.com and we will be front-and-center in 2017 coverage.
