After helping the Panthers come from behind in game one with his walk-off single, Ryan Sinzenich put together a 3-for-5, for RBI performance in game two, leading the Panthers to a 9-3 victory over Lynn on Saturday. Nick Capra was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Both teams had 12 hits in the contest, but the Panthers were the more productive bunch, scoring eight earned runs. Florida Tech starter Andy Marzheuser was the beneficiary, as he improved to 5-1. He went five innings, allowing just one run on six hits. He walked one and struck out five.

The Florida Tech offense got started early, scoring twice in the second inning against Fighting Knights starter Michael Imperato. Capra walked and went to third one out later, on a passed ball. He scored on a ground out by Sinzenich. After Kevin Capella singled back to the mound, Zac Orchard doubled him home.

Capra got the fourth inning off to a good start with a double. With the hit and run on, one out later, Capra knocked him in, giving the Panthers a 3-0 lead. A solo homer in the top of the fifth, got Lynn on the board, cutting the FIT lead to 3-1.

Imperato faced one batter in the fifth, walking Orchard. He was relieved by Victor Danza and the Panthers went right to work on him. Grant McKown singled, putting runners at the corners. Reid Neal brought Orchard home with a grounder to the right side and John Sternagel singled home McKown, making it 5-1. Capra continued his big day with an RBI double, giving the Panthers a five-run cushion.

Rhett Willis started the sixth in favor of Marzheuser. Both teams scored single runs in the seventh
inning. Lynn made it 6-2 with an RBI single off the bat of Alex Turner. Sinzenich answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double.

Drew Beyer, who was lights out in Friday’s series opener, came in to start the eighth for the Panthers. Tyler Curtis greeted him with a double and was homeward bound, thanks to a single by Jake Rouse, making it a 7-3 game.

That was as close as Lynn would get, as the Panthers tacked on two more in the eighth. Jonathon Wake walked the bases loaded and was yanked in favor of Connor Davis. Davis struck out Capra, but then walked David Wilson making it 8-3. Another Sinzenich RBI single capped the scoring.

Florida Tech (17-11, 3-3 SSC) will host Tampa next weekend in another crucial Sunshine State Conference series. Friday’s series opener is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and Saturday’s doubleheader will get underway at noon.
