The Florida Tech Women’s lacrosse team lost their first game of the season back on February 17 to Lindenwood. They have not lost since, scoring four straight victories, including Saturday’s 14-7 home win against Saint Anselm College.

Sara Grenier, Caroline Dunleavy and Lauren Tybor each had a hat-trick for the Panthers, while Leah Dunn added two. The Panthers took 32 shots on the day, with Hawks goalie Zoie Cavotta making eight saves.

The Panthers (4-1) got off to a great start, scoring three goals in just under four and a half minutes, with Dunleavy, Grenier and Tybor finding the back of the net. The Hawks answered with three of their own against Panthers goaltender Stephanie Stuart, two off the stick of Meaghan Sheehy.

Goals by Tybor and Sam Schiano late in the half, gave the Panthers a 5-3 lead. The teams traded goals early in the first half and the Hawks trailed 7-6 after back-to-back goals by Emma Palumbo with the second coming with 19:49 to go in the game.

The Panthers turned things in their favor quickly, scoring three straight goals, before Palumbo struck again, with 8:28 to go. Palumbo would end the day with a hat trick of her own, in the losing cause.

Tybor, Dunleavy and Grenier finished off their hat-trick in succession, upping the Panthers lead to 13-7. Dunn put the final touches on things with her goal, coming with 25 seconds left on the clock.

Florida Tech picked up 33 ground balls in the game, compared to 24 for Saint Anselm, aided by a 16-6 advantage in the second half. The Panthers took advantage of 18 turnovers, but Saint Anselm had 14-9 advantage in draw controls.

Florida Tech will travel to Tampa tomorrow (Sunday) for a neutral site game against the University of Montevallo. First draw is set for noon.
