Three Players in Double Figures Help FIT Beat Webber International

The Florida Tech women won their third straight game
Saturday afternoon, beating Webber International, 84-66 at the Clemente Center.
Shequana Harris
led all scorers with 17, Delise Williams
and Kareese Johnson both had 10.
Julie McCarthy just missed a double-double, with eight points and 12 boards.
“Kareese was key for us off the bench,” said Panthers coach
John Reynolds. She rebounded the ball, she handled the ball, she attacked the
basket and played really solid for us.”
“I’m really proud of my bench players, Reynolds continued, they
played hard all day.”
The Panthers led from the get-go, with Williams hitting a
three-pointer 25 seconds into the game.
After Webber got to within 5-4, went on
a nine-point run, highlighted by a Gracie
Doane three. The Panthers carried that to a 22-15 lead after 10 minutes.
With 3:43 left in the quarter, the Panthers led 37-28 and
they went on an 8-2 run to end the half. FIT took a 45-30 lead to the locker
room. They put together a 9-0 run early in the third and led 63-37 with 5:30 to
go in the quarter. They led by 20, 65-45 as the third quarter ended.
Webber International (3-6) scored 15 points in each of the first
three quarters and put together their best quarter in the fourth, outscoring
the Panthers 21-19. Quanthavia Stalworth led the Warriors with 14 points.
Gabby Costas was hurt with 6:23 left in the game, after a
chase for the ball ended with her being knocked to the ground. She was carried
off the court and did not return.
With 5:17 to go in the game, the Panthers took their largest
lead of the game, at 27 points, 74-47. They would go on to the 84-66 victory.

Florida Tech will return to the court Wednesday, as they
host Sunshine State Conference foe, Rollins at the Clemente Center. The game
will tip at 5:30 p.m.
